“Das Geheimnis der Statue” is a short novel for those studying German at the A2 level.

A group of friends finds a white statue in an old house. At first, they don’t pay much attention to it. But then, one of the friends notices the same kind of statue pictured on a poster about animal protection. The poster states, “20,000 elephants are killed annually by poachers for making ivories”. Could this statue be made of ivory? And what if this old house contains a secret store of it? This question sparks a dangerous adventure for the friends.

The book includes reading comprehension tasks, with answer keys provided at the end. Illustrations throughout the book also help with understanding.
